Install Attempt #2

When it doesn't go right the first time...

Our install earlier this week didn’t go as planned. Check out the video to see what happened today, and here’s how we prepared for attempt #2:

  1. Provided the clients with options and let them decide how they’d like to move forward. These options were:

A: Keep the piece and have us aim to install it again days later with new hardware. If it doesn’t work, we will remove the piece, refund the money for the art, and repair the wall completely.

B: Remove the piece after failed attempt #1 and refund the money for the art, sourcing alternative pieces.

    (The clients chose #1.)

  2. Corresponded with the gallerist, M&M Fine Arts, and the artist to troubleshoot. M&M was key in creating a custom cleat system that worked with the unusual backing of this particular artwork.

  3. Ensured the installation team had a back up plan and tools in case one wooden cleat split, a measurement was incorrect, etc.

  4. Communicated openly and with gratitude. These situations aren’t easy and remembering that everyone is working towards a common goal is key. We’re grateful to Mark Ortiz at M&M for caring about his work, team, and our client in the most professional way.
